Middle Peninsula Seeks Industry Feedback on Developing University-Community Partnerships

Middle Peninsula communities face unique economic challenges. Not only does 72% of the workforce out-commute, but the average hourly wage for Middle Peninsula workers is one of the lowest in the Commonwealth.

In response to the problem of lagging growth for many of the region’s industries, the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission (MPPDC) is asking local businesses to complete a survey to help identify policies or circumstances that limit growth in their industries. Those who live and work in the Middle Peninsula are invited to participate. The results of the survey will provide the MPPDC information to help build partnerships with Virginia Sea Grant university member institutions and will also support a proposal for a Community Development Block Grant that will support the partnership projects.

Middle Peninsula industry representatives can take the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LCFXVK5
