Middle Peninsula Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Public Input Session 1

Help Shape the Future of the Middle Peninsula
The draft Middle Peninsula Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) is ready for public review, and we want to hear from you.
The Middle Peninsula covers six rural coastal counties (Essex, Gloucester, King and Queen, King William, Mathews, and Middlesex) and the towns of Tappahannock, Urbanna, and West Point. It’s a region known for more than 1,000 miles of coastline, rich natural resources, and historic working waterfronts. It also faces real challenges: residents commuting out of the region for work, slow job growth, rising housing costs, tidal flooding, and an aging population.
The draft CEDS lays out a shared vision for a resilient, modern, and diversified regional economy. That economy builds on the region’s blue-green assets, keeps local talent here, raises household incomes, expands housing options, strengthens coastal infrastructure, and grows opportunity in every community.
Review the draft and share your input at one of two in-person sessions on Wednesday, November 18:
- 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
- 5:30- 6:30 p.m.
Both sessions will take place in the Mattaponi Conference Room at HUB 33, 4521 Lewis B. Puller Memorial Highway Mattaponi, VA 23110.
Can’t make it? Read the draft at the link below and send comments to John Edwards (jedwards@mppdc.com) by November 30, 2026.
Your input will help guide how the Middle Peninsula grows over the next five years.
